Essay Writing Guide

It is about the time of that term that students are preparing the first round of assignments. So here are some things to remember when writing essays. Good writing is simple. By understanding word choice and structure you can get your point across in a clear concise manner. This guide address both the artistic side and the structural side of preparing a quality essay.

The artistic side of preparing an essay involves the words within. Words have literal and emotional impacts on the reader, certain words invoke varying emotions, and hence choosing the right word in context will increase the impact of your argument on the reader. As with a lot of things, less is more when it comes to using this high impact vocabulary. Good writers learn strategic word placement in two ways, through reading and through practice.

The other basis for a good writing is structure. An essay with no structure is like a human body without a skeleton. The organization of sentences and paragraphs within an essay makes an enormous difference to how well your point gets across. A typical Paragraph contains a single main idea about a topic. The first sentence is the topic sentence and should outline the primary thought throughout the paragraph. The following sentences provide supporting details and arguments. The last sentence concludes the paragraph and provides a smooth transition into the following paragraph.

All essays contain the primary structure including an introduction, main body and conclusion. These can be thought of as in terms of future, present and past. The introduction (future) is a condensed version of the whole essay, and should include the hypothesis of the essay and outline what you will talk about. The main body (present) of the essay is where it all happens. It is where you should expand, develop and support your thesis. The conclusion (past) is reflective on what has been outlined. It is used to restate the hypothesis and suggest any further research.

The order in which you make your points will effect which points carry more impact. Chronological events should be set out chronologically; otherwise the weakest points should be made first while the strongest points should be made towards the end increasing the chance that the reader will remember them. As students get older they will be confronted with longer assignments however all of these rules must still apply, with the level of detail increasing.

Planning the structure and determining topic sentences and supporting details for each of your points prior to writing any paragraphs will go a long way to providing a solid foundation for your essay. You will find that the writing will come much easier. Once prepared, dedicate a block of time to write the draft avoid stopping and starting. Then let it sit for a day or so, read it, then let it sit again. This process gives your brain time to reflect on what you have already written. Then review the essay in two stages. Firstly, review it focusing on overall ideas, arguments and evidence and the overall flow. Secondly, focus on word choice, spelling, grammar and punctuation. Time permitting, lastly review your transitions between paragraphs if need be rearrange paragraphs to ensure the flow from one paragraphs topic to the next is as logical a progression as possible.

Education Case Study

Well, it's certainly difficult to get children to behave these days. In fact, there doesn't seem to be much discipline at home, and it is quite self evident in the classroom at school. The other day, I was talking to a schoolteacher at Starbucks, and she noted that if she disciplined the kids too much, she could lose her job. Further, the school principal and the administration rarely backed the teacher up over parent's complaints. "When a child comes home and cries to their mother, often their mother will go marching down to the school and read the riot act to the principal," she told me.

As we were talking about this, we started brainstorming on ways to return discipline in the classroom. In my day they would just take a ruler and slap your hand, and wow does that would hurt! I can remember in elementary school, they would just smack you, so everyone pretty much decided to behave from then on out. Well, since we can't discipline the kids, maybe we can tickle them to death, if they don't behave.

Therefore, I propose tickling Robots, and I believe a startup company should produce one of these robots, and it would be all the rage on YouTube, and they would sell a ton of them.

Of course, you couldn't use them in the schools right away, as kids might wet their pants and that could be a problem, so you'd have to work out the tickling intensity level first. But wealthy parents could use it at home at first to discipline their kids, and that's a start.

Indeed, can you imagine having a tickling robot at your next party, wouldn't that be all the rage? What if you are playing cards, and rather than playing for money, when someone lost they got tickled. And you can have different levels of tickling, and different time periods. Now then, robotic ticklers makes sense, so don't laugh, well at least if you can stand it, then don't laugh.

The whole concept this makes me smile really, how about you?

You see, we have to do something to prevent this bad behavior in our society, and a tickling robot could do the trick. How would it work you ask? Well, it would probably be similar to an electric chair, where you strap the person in where they can't move, and the robot goes in with a feather duster type attachment, and a few rubbery protrusion apparatuses on the side. And depending on the level and setting, then it would go to town, and record the voice of the person laughing, to make sure it was within the proper range.

How A Boarding School Can Be A Positive Influence?

Some people look down at boarding schools but the truth is other wise. Parents are slowly realizing the many benefits of putting their children in such place. These schools focus on all round development of the children and thus help them not only excel in their studies but also in extra curricular activities.

Often parents need to make a choice between a boarding-school and a public school. And the choice can be based on different aspect for different families. The parents need to consider so many things like financial resources, needs, and priorities that may differ from family to family. But over and above, boarding-school score much higher than a public school.

To begin with, the size of the class is much smaller in a boarding school. And due to the smaller class size, the students get much more personal attention and chances are that he will get a complete positive atmosphere for his growth and development. Such one-on-one attention allows students to develop specialized study habits and better focus while learning. But if you look at the public schools they often have a very big class size that can go up to 30 or even more. Thus it ensures personal attention for every student studying there.

Another big benefit is the qualified and experienced staff. Most of the teachers there are completely dedicated to their students. As the class size is already small, it does not take much effort for the teachers and student to develop special bonds with each other. This too acts as a good foundation for a great education.

As they do not have to face any financial limitations, there are no cut backs and the students are given the best opportunities in the field of learning. You will find these schools offering diverse programs like sports, art, yoga, equine programs, music, and many other outdoor activities like water rafting or rock climbing. Students of other schools definitely miss out on such opportunities. This clearly shows that students get a well-rounded education that is not possible in public schools.

Another advantage is that they nurture family bonds and focus on family relations. Parents are encouraged to get involved and have a complete say in their child's education. They attend meetings, participate in outings with their kids, go on adventure trips. All these develop stronger skills in the home and the child feels very close to his or her parents' despite remaining away from them in a boarding school. The family interaction goes along way in developing new skills and strategies among both parent and their children that strengthen the family bond and improve functioning at home.

Some Benefits of Medical Practice Management

The process of starting and running a medical practice can be very demanding in terms of time and commitment. Every successful business enterprise requires that all its departments run with the highest degree of professionalism if at all it is to succeed. Medical practice management involves bringing in an entire team of experts to help in the practice management and running of its all important departments.

The departments varies from the financial management that includes filling, keeping track of accounts to customer care duties such as welcoming of patients, recording patient information and helping them fill in the necessary paper work.

This form of business management that involves consulting the experts and having them help manage the medical practice in the most professional way has several benefits to the business and in turn to the owner as well.

There are several advantages to medical practice management, the obvious one being the high level of expertise involved in the running of the business. As a medical practitioner, the proficiency in the medical field does not necessarily mean that you can still be able to perform well in other functions within a business setting. Practice management leaves you free to pay attention to the most important function which is to take care of the medical needs of the patients.

Medical practice management also involves performing the all challenging role of credentialing, this helps in bring onboard the best and most qualified individuals for the work. The medical field such as healthcare I.T requires the most reliable individuals. This is because a small error in the healthcare I.T can lead to diverse effect on the records of the practice and in worst case scenario the well being of patients undergoing treatment. The credentialing services offered through medical practice management experts ensures that you are able to work with a team that is more than able to take on any challenge that the medical practice may bring with it.

One of the areas that contribute directly to the income of a medical practice is the rcm series. The revenue cycle management involves the whole process of registering a patient, checking their eligibility in order to avoid any conflicts with insurance, offering treatment and offering sending the claims to the concerned insurance company. The different stages of the revenue management cycle are able to run more efficiently with the help of the medical practice management.

Through practice management, upcoming practice gets information on the requirements of the business and how to overcome the different challenges that comes with it. It offers with it free orientation and necessary knowledge of medical documentation.

Lesson Plan Strategies for Substitute Teachers Left in the Dark

Okay so you want to be a teacher do you? Well, in many school districts they are laying off teachers, and there really doesn't seem to be enough jobs for everyone. Of course if you have your teaching credential, or if you've been laid off as a teacher, you might be able to get a temporary job, or some temporary work here and there being a substitute teacher. Indeed, it can be stressful being a substitute teacher, and you certainly have to have your wits about you in this day and age of kids who are out of control behaviorally in the classroom - and no you are not allowed to smack the children, albeit they probably deserve it.

Now then, if you are a substitute teacher, or even if you aren't, you have probably heard the story where the substitute teacher comes to class, the teacher isn't there, there is no lesson plan left, and a substitute teacher has to wing it. Well, if you're a standup comedian and you can tell jokes for an entire period, you might be able to keep them entertained for an hour or so. But the reality is you will be competing with the class clowns, and other kids who want attention, and therefore they can be a very fickle audience. So what the hell do you do?

Well, if you have a 4G New iPad you can go online and there are several homeschooling lesson plans already created for nearly every subject under the sun. Many of these community homeschooling groups put their lesson plans online. All you need to do is figure out where the class is currently, and choose one that is appropriate. The best thing to do is get to school and to class early, and ask the first student who comes then, you need to sit down with them one-on-one, and ask them questions about where the class is, and what they are currently learning.

If you wait until there are a larger number of kids get to the class before you ask the question of where that particular teacher and those students are, and how far they've come along in the subject matter, they will lead you astray purposely, to get out of work, and it will be amazing the amount of BS they will try to pull over on you. If you doubt this, then obviously you don't have very much experience with substitute teaching. Often "when the teacher is away the kids will play," and once they have the substitute teacher on the run - well, you've completely lost control of the classroom.

Which Licensed Practical Nursing Program Is Best For Me?

Going to nursing school has always been a popular career choice, but these days it's even more so. There are several reasons for this. First, most of the developed world is going through an economic downturn. This means high unemployment and low job prospects. Second, this economic downturn has had no effect whatsoever on the medical field. Demand for health care professionals is higher than ever.

So what does this mean to you? Well, if you are just coming out of high school and looking for a good career to get into, becoming a nurse may be a great option. And the most popular way into the nursing field is through an LPN program. Why an LPN program? Because you only have to go to school for less than 2 years before you start working. When you compare that to most 4 year degrees that give you no guarantees of future employment, it's easy to see why so many choose to go to LPN school.

When deciding between an online or offline LPN program, there are a few things to consider. Online programs can be good if you are the type that manages your time well and is able to stay disciplined and work consistently without supervision. If this describes you, then online LPN training may work out well. On the other hand, if you have trouble getting motivated to work on your own and are susceptible to the endless distractions out there on the Web, then it could take you several years to finish LPN school.

Another challenge to LPN training online is that it is difficult to get the best nurses training without the practical application of your skills in a traditional 'brick and mortar' institution. While there are many other types of studies that can be done easily online, there are just some things about nursing that are better done in a classroom.

So what's the best kind of LPN school. For most people, the best choice is still a traditional offline nursing school. The classroom environment is just better to maintain overall discipline in your studies, and the practical training you get inside a classroom is really impossible to replicate online. Online LPN training does have its place though. If you are one of those people who is intense and focused on your goals, you may be able to knock out an online LPN program in around 6 months.

Some Teachers Text Message in the Classroom Too

The other day I was at Starbucks I was talking to a former school teacher from Manhattan Beach California. We discussed some of the challenges with kids and all their technology, specifically the reality that they were constantly text messaging, and wasting their time doing nonsensical things. Time they should be using to learn, engage in physical activity so they don't get too fat, and in the process enriching their minds. No, this isn't any revelation, I'm sure you've had the same conversation with your own friends. Nevertheless, a young student had overheard our conversation, and came up to me later to add an interesting tidbit.

The young girl about in her mid teens explained to me that wasn't the kids doing the text messaging in the classroom. She said that if you're caught text messaging they take your personal tech device away from you, and that doesn't mean that some kids don't do it, they do, but it is not just the kids who are engaged in text messaging in the schools. She told me that she saw a janitor text messaging while doing his work clean up the school. She said he saw a bus driver text messaging while his bus was idling next to the curb waiting for students to get on.

She also told me that many of the teachers will assign a project, or give a test, and then they will be text messaging behind their desk. She told me that she thought the teachers should be paying attention, and making sure that the kids don't cheat during those tests or copy her answers while she took the test. She didn't say that all the teachers were doing it, just that a few were, and although they tried to hide what they were doing, it's pretty obvious, and all the kids know it.

Interestingly enough, although I hadn't really considered this, I do know from my personal business experience that employees often go onto social networks, e-mail their friends, and do text messaging while on the clock at their desk. All of those text messages they send out are not necessarily to business associates are helping the company's bottom line. Most of it is personal business, and as they are engaged in these activities they are destroying the productivity of the company and costing corporations and small businesses tens of billions of dollars a year in lost productivity.

Indeed, I bet the lost productivity figures are astronomical, but most haven't ever bothered to figure it out, although I've seen some estimates, I've never seen the actual math, and I wonder if those estimates are in line with reality. If teachers are text messaging while they are in the classroom, then they aren't doing the work of teaching. In that case, I find it rather unfortunate that we need to pay them more money, or place all the blame on student behavioral issues in the classroom or a lack of discipline.

Egyptian Mythology Or Spiritual Reality

One of the most interesting fields of study is the study of Egyptology.Without doubt this remarkable history and the dry desert worked together to give the world the most amazing evidence of ancient history, myth and spiritual reality. But where did the one stop and the other begin?

Mythology and Religion

There is enough evidence from the engravings on temple walls, statues and scrolls for us to reach the conclusion that for the ancient Egyptians the main pantheon was Osiris. This deity was not just a deity but was immortalised by putting him in the sky from where he now follows the sun. It was also believed that all Pharaohs that died became gods themselves and joined Osiris in the sky. From here they would protect their followers.

For the Egyptians it was easy to look up and see Osiris watching over them. This fact was enhanced as they could see him standing in the early morning eastern sky. From his prominent position in heaven he brought the flooding of the Nile, the life and death of all Egyptians who lived next to the Nile. Osiris was not a mythological character to them; he was a tangible spiritual deity you could see and worship.

Orion the Hunter

As the Greek mythological figure Orion the Hunter, this group of stars could be the most prominent constellation in the sky as it is so easy to spot. For the Greeks this Hunter was part of the Zodiac and much more than mythology. Now for those who do not know this yet, the constellation Orion is also the god Osiris we just talked about. And for those with no idea where or who either is, the brightest star in the sky Sirius is always near Orion. The belt of three stars makes Orion easy to spot because there is only one place where the stars form such a line in the sky. Rigel the white star on his knee and Betelgeuse the orange star on his shoulder plus a few other stars form the outline of this prominent starry pattern. Nearby you can also find Aldebaran, the orange star and the Pleiades or Seven sisters, a group of stars, all part of Taurus the Bull.

Student Accommodation in Leeds

There are plenty of specialist letting agents in Leeds who focus on helping new and existing students to find the very best student accommodation. In Leeds you'll find a bevy of educational institutions, including two universities and several specialised colleges, all of which help to attract the nearly quarter of a million students who flock to the city every year - but it's not just education that Leeds does well; by choosing student accommodation in Leeds around the city centre area, you'll be just moments away from a whole range of cultural activities that will provide both entertainment and perhaps even the opportunity to experience events that will complement your studies.

Those attending a performing arts course would do well opting for city centre student accommodation; Leeds has a fantastic selection of theatres that host a wide range of different plays, music events and much more, and these are well worth exploring if you want to get a taste for life after learning.

Ask your letting agents in Leeds for the most suitable locations

If you speak to your letting agents in Leeds about the various activities on offer, they will probably mention the West Yorkshire Playhouse; situated opposite the main bus station, it has been lauded as the finest repertory theatre in the country by respected national newspaper, The Times - but although it is indeed a fabulous venue with an incredible array of plays and performances, it's also worth casting your net wider, in order to make the most of the other theatres on offer.

One such lesser-known but hugely loved entertainment arena is the Leeds City Varieties Music Hall. Known by the lengthy moniker of Thornton's New Music Hall and Fashionable Lounge, back in the late 1800s, this beautiful grade 2 listed building has seen entertainment greats such as Charlie Chaplin treading its boards. With a place in the record books for being the longest running music hall in Great Britain, you can now book in to see comedy shows, operas and musicals, cabaret, live gigs and fabulous pieces of performance art too.

If you've had to find student accommodation in Leeds because you're attending the Leeds Metropolitan University, you'll probably have a chance to visit its studio, theatre and gallery at some time during your educational journey. A great place for showcasing new talent, you can book in to see some unique and original productions performed by students from the university.

Dance students can watch the professionals at work!

For students of the Leeds College of Music it might be worth checking out what's on offer at the Grand Theatre and Opera House, as there are often touring productions of famous West End shows and other musicals on their event calendar; similarly, for those studying dance, the Northern Ballet Theatre offers a combination of classical performances and contemporary dance, and is recognised the world over as being an impressive and well-respected location for these types of cultural events.
